Life in Tahoe: February
This month we finally got what we were wishing for over Christmas - SNOW!
We had an absolute blast during a few snow days around Incline Village. This joy is why we moved from the city to the mountains!
Bay Area Sourcing Trip
Earlier in the month we took a trip to the Bay for a mix of inspiration, business and some fun with friends.
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect so we spent a day with Little Bridget in the Marin Headlands, one of my favorite places in the world. The lighting was so gorgeous we couldn’t help, but collect some Instagram content for our page.
Little Bridget took an amazing nap with the sound of the waves and the fresh ocean air surrounding her.
One of our favorite things to do when in the Bay Area is go to the Farmers Market. This time we went to the Saturday market at Marin Country Mart which honesty is a lot smaller then the Civic Center one on Sundays, but is more manageable to navigate with a toddler. They also have free music time for the kiddos so that’s always a fun bonus! Of course we ran into a client from Tahoe when we were at the market and some dear friends of 20+ years. That is the amazing thing about Marin and Tahoe…it’s a small tight knit community.
Although I wanted to buy everything at the market, we were staying at a hotel so couldn’t really cook. That being said we picked up three gorgeous baskets of berries and then some fresh pastries. My favorite being a torte with cherry tomatoes and Swiss cheese.
When Chez Panisse announced the cafe was reopening for lunch, we knew we needed to go check it out. As you probably know by now, Alice Waters is a huge inspiration for me and I had never been to Chez Panisse! We made lunch reservations about a week in advance (I would recommend this as it was quite busy) and headed to the East Bay for a great lunch. The lunch exceeded our expectations and we were also pleasantly surprised by how kid friendly it was. I would say the cafe is a better fit for a kiddo than the dining room as it has a busy, cozy and very relaxed atmosphere. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and Little Bridget enjoyed every second of it.
Another day we made our way into the city to meet up with my dear friend Amanda from fashion school in Chicago (yes - we’ve been friends for over 15 years). She is a fellow textile nerd so we decided to check out the new exhibit of Sheila Hicks work at the SF MOMA. This body of work was recently completed and I believe it’s the first time it’s on display. The colors, the textures…it was all very inspiring and we also walked through some of the permanent exhibits as well. A highlight being the Calder mobiles and of course Olafur Eliasson’s bridge - which Little Bridget didn’t want to leave.
As you know we are so thrilled to be sponsors for the Oscar de la Renta X Keep Tahoe Blue fashion show so we have started planning our outfits for the big day. I have a beautiful dress for the cocktail party event, but wanted to find a special hat to wear with it. As I love supporting small businesses and artisans, I was able to find a wonderful women who designs and fabricates gorgeous hats here in San Francisco. The name is SF Millinery and her work are truly pieces of art!
We went to go check out her studio to see what she had…and I found the perfect hat to go with my dress. I would highly recommend checking out her store. Please note that it is appointment only, but she is more then happy to accommodate your schedule!
My favorite way to travel from Marin to San Francisco is by ferry. We got lucky with some really gorgeous sunsets on our ride back to Marin! Just gorgeous…
Back in Tahoe we took over the office space next to us so our studio has now doubled in size! This is super exciting because now we have a client facing space which we are remodeling…stay tuned for the final reveal. And then a secondary space where we can store our extensive collection of vintage pieces, art and accessories.
Valentine’s Day this year was extremely snowy and we spent three days at home staying cozy! Little Bridget loved the snow, but lasted about 5 minutes before she was cold and wanted to go inside - haha.
Grateful for another beautiful February here in the mountains!
